Emotionally Healthy

  Standard definition of emotions is known by everyone, but still we haven't been able to fully understand what it actually means. This may be because this word doesn't have definitive boundaries, rather a flexible one. EMOTIONS ARE LIKE WATER. If we have to explain the effect of emotions, then this might be a perfect analogy. Just like water, the presence of emotions is very important in our lives. It enhances our day to day experience, minute to major. Just like water bodies are regularly managed and regulated by dams so that during any environmental disturbance the devastation can be controlled, similarly we need to learn to manage and regulate emotions so that during an emotional disturbance, our emotions don't drown us. The ability to cope with both positive and negative emotions, which includes your awareness of them, is called Emotional Health. Negative Self Talk

“All the misery we have is of our own choosing; such is our nature.” - Swami Vivekanand I recently stumbled upon this quote, while at first, I was infuriated on how can we choose our own misery. My first thought was that am I choosing to get hurt by someone, or being cheated by someone. But it also made me question my miseries too. Is it really possible that we choose our own miseries ? Although I still can't formulate a concrete answer, thinking about this made me realize a few things which I would like to share with you all.  Let's start with a question, how often do we find ourselves talking to ourselves negatively, or criticizing ourselves and how often do we talk to ourselves in a positive, affirming tone and praise ourselves ??
